We are so proud to introduce you to the newest addition to the TMC Digital Media family. Lauren Thompson comes to us from the Middleby family of brands. We've worked with her for a while and are so excited to have her as a member of our team completely dedicated to everything Middleby.
Lauren, welcome! Tell us a little bit about your background.
My professional career has been anything but conventional, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. After growing up in New England, I decided I needed a break from winter, so I packed my bags and headed out to San Diego, California. After a few years out there, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in fashion design, and I headed back home to start my new career. Much to my surprise, after working in the industry for a bit, I realized that it was a road I did not want to follow. However, I had gained so much experience and learned so much that I did not want to throw it all away.
And where did that lead you?
The restaurant industry, like so many out there, has helped keep me afloat throughout my educational career and even at the beginning of my professional one. After bursting the bubble on all my post-grad plans, I found a local restaurant that needed help with marketing and branding of their casual dining location, as well as their new catering business. I dove right in with the design elements and began working closely with the two owners to help make their aspirations come to light. I realized that this, in fact, is something I am truly passionate about, helping a business represent themselves to the world the way they see themselves. Exactly in the same way we all dress to impress when we go out into the world.
But you didn't jump right into the manufacturing side of foodservice, right?
I was now ready to steer myself into a successful career and found a healthcare manufacturer who took a chance on a young woman with little experience. I was able to diversify my skills, teach myself new technologies, and experience communicating with people all over the world. As the company struggled to keep up with the technology of the future, I looked outward to see what opportunities I could find. The timing of this decision could not have been more perfect.
And that's when you landed with Middleby?
After discovering that there was another local factory looking for a marketing manager for their four brands, I applied and met some of the best mentors and professional colleagues I have ever had. The world of Middleby was so much greater than anything I had ever experienced. Never had I seen such a vast organization full of dedicated people that were all hands on deck all of the time regardless of title. In just over three years, I was able to work with not only the brands in the New Hampshire location but the brands and great people in the Vermont location, as well. These brands included Pitco, Blodgett, Blodgett Combi, BKI, MagiKitch’n, Market Forge, Marsal, Perfect Fry, and Ultrafryer. The faith that these organizations had in me to work on so many projects with so many brands was a dream come true, but I could not do it all on my own.
Technology can help show success. Talk a little bit about the tech side and how TMC came into the picture when you were working with Middleby.
I have been using Hubspot for over seven years now, which has been very key to my success. With TMC Digital Media being a Hubspot partner that specializes in the foodservice industry, it was only a matter of time before we started working together. Their entire team earned my trust time and time again and had impressed me beyond belief that I sang their praises wherever I could. As the hard times of 2020 hit the foodservice industry hard, marketing professionals like myself have been in a bit of limbo. Eager to get back to work, I began discussions with both TMC and Middleby, and we all found a win-win situation that led me to where I am today.
So tell us a little bit about where you are and what your role will be.
Now I am a full fledged member of the TMC family as the Middleby Client Success Manager, I am able to continue to use my experience and expertise to help Middleby corporate, their manufacturers, rep agencies, dealers, and consultants. I’ve been lucky to meet a lot of people within the Middleby world, and I’m eager to work with them again as well as those I have not met yet. Ready to take your marketing efforts to greater heights?
